I’ll admit it – I do not watch The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.  The whole concept just makes my skin crawl.  That being said, The Neil Lane engagement rings they get are amazing!  This is the ring Ed Swiderski got to propose to Jillian Harris with last night.

So now the question remains….will Bachelorette Jillian stay engaged to Ed?  Will Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski even stay together at all?  Will Chris Harrison stay on with The Bachelorette to keep asking those inane deep thought questions now that he’s got another gig?  Dum dum dum

You know how sometimes you’ll let your friend win every once in a while so they don’t get frustrated and never play with you again?  That’s the only thing I can think of that could possibly explain this.  Showtime has a new show that spells failure on so many levels.

First off, it’s being hosted by Shannon Elizabeth.  The concept of the show is stand up comedy and burlesque – thankfully not at the same time.  Andy Dick stripping while doing standup would no doubt cause a simultaneous vomit fest of all three of the people watching this mess.  The show will start with an audience participation bit with Shannon Elizabeth and be followed by 2 stand up acts sandwiched between two burlesque acts.

Apparently this is what we get when we demand original programming.  Maybe I should just quit bitching about all the re-makes Hollywood is doing.

Joe Simpson is pulling a stunt that seems to be right out of the Joe Jackson playbook.  It seems that Simpson wants to revive daughter Ashlee Simpson’s singing career. (I’m not so sure that would be considered a revival.  Maybe more like trying to do it again.)  His big project idea?  Simpson is pitching a “concept album” that would have Ashlee doing covers of Michael Jackson songs.

Another recurring character from Saturday Night Live is jumping the shark by going to the big screen.  Will Forte’s MacGruber is being made into a full length theatrical release, and sidekick Kristin Wiig is being dragged along in its wake.

If you haven’t seen the MacGruber sketches, they are a takeoff from the 80’s show MacGyver.  MacGyver could get out of any dangerous situation with odds and ends that were available to him.  Apparently Michaels has been crafty enough to find enough chewing gum, rope, mind eraser potion to keep studio executives away from the pitch meeting and being able to veto this movie idea, as well as incriminating video tape evidence against the remaining studio execs and this thing is going to be made.

Lorne Michaels, the creator of SNL, has exploited seen “creative genious” before in such movie greats like: The Ladies Man, Coneheads, Superstar, A Night at the Roxbury, and Stuart Saves His Family.  None of these works has done very well at the box office, but Michaels gets to see his name in lights, and SNL gets a 90 minute commercial at the expense of movie goers, so hey – why not?

Open mouth…insert foot.  That was what Eric Estrada did last night at the Cubs game.  And lucky for us (luck, in this case, is relative) he did this on tape so it’s there for posterity (or at least until they take it down).

After an ear bleeding rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” for the 7th inning stretch, he gets diarrhea of the mouth with Len Kasper.

Around the 1:45 mark Estrada talks about how he’s seen his share of “child porn and he wants to do something about it.”  Then at around the 4:00 mark, he starts babbling about his stint on The Surreal Life and Ron Jeremy’s “blessing.”

Where is Vince McMahon when you need him?

After the Much Music Awards in Canada some words were exchanged between Perez Hilton and Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.  Depending on who’s side you’re on in all of this the verbal exchange was either civil or nasty.  At the end of the day, Perez Hilton is claiming that he got beat up by Will.i.am outside a club.  He was so traumatized by the events, he took to his Twitter account.  Because nothing says “mommy I’ve got an owie” better than twatting about it on your smartphone.  Although, Will.i.am just created his own Twitter account to combat the backlash being created about the incident.

Both sides have also taken to the web, in there own versions of a fireside chat to tell the world their side of the story.  This should get real interesting.

Because the world doesn’t have enough members of the Cyrus family to have a different one in the news every day, we now get another Cyrus family member that’s after their 15 minutes.  Brandi Cyrus is apparently not happy being in the shadows of her sister Miley or father Billy Ray.

Brandi Cyrus played guitar as back-up for Miley, but is now has her own band: Frank and Derol.  The other members of her group include lead vocalist Codi Caraco and Megan Park, who stars in the television show The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

I thought Park’s comment was especially funny, “We really liked what she contributed so we started working with her a lot more and it all naturally fell into place.”  I’m sure they loved what Brandi contributed to the band – mostly, the last name of Cyrus.

Looks like Kate Gosselin might be cracking under the weight of her self-built castle.

In front of paparazzi, on Saturday, a pissed off Kate spanked her daughter Leah.  Pictures were taken and ths sh*t storm has begun.  Of course this debate will go well beyond the topic of “to spank or not to spank.”  Because it involves Kate and Jon Gosselin it will escalate into something much larger.

Jon better start stepping up to the plate here because when the divorce is finally over with, he’s going to end up with primary custody of the eight kids.  When will he have time to go out to the bars and party, get to age 54 and ultimately end up marrying a 19 year old?

R&B singer, Spectacular, caused quite a stir a couple of weeks ago when hit YouTube to promote his groups new song “Tipsy.”  His gyrating in a tight red pair of underwear caused lots of speculation regarding his sexuality. It didn’t help that Spectacular dared others to follow his gyrating lead and try to top his moves.  Some of the challengers he hopes to see gyrating include Bow Wow, Trey Songz, Day26, Chris Brown and Omarion.

While he’s waiting for his dance-off, he’s got another offer to entertain.  Gay men’s magazine, “Flava Men” has offered Spectacular $100,000 to pose nude in their magazine as well as to appear on its cover.

“We made the offer due to our belief that even straight men can pose for Flava Men Magazine. Our target audience is gay ethnic men of color but many of its models do not engage in sexual acts or practice a homosexual lifestyle,” said Flava Works CEO Phillip Bleicher.

So beauty queens like Carrie Prejean and quasi-celebrities like Heidi Montag aren’t the only pretty faces to get offers to strip down and get photographed.
