I really like Kathy Griffin, but this stunt might just be a bit too much.

Kathy Griffin took Levi Johnston to the MTV Teen Choice Awards as her date last night.  While the 48 year old comedienne and 19 year old wanna-be going to the awards show together was no doubt a publicity stunt, it was none the less a success on that level.

Since Levi Johnston is working on both a book and movie deal, it makes total sense for him to appear on the green carpet with Kathy Griffin on his arm.  Johnston has had good training being a hanger-on, since he’s the father of Sarah Palin’s grandchild and was toted along on campaign trail for a few months.

You can’t really say the stunt was tasteless when we got to see a 16 year old Miley Cyrus pole dance.

I haven’t posted about Heidi Montag in a very long time.  Mostly because I, like everyone else, just got tired of her and Spencer Pratt plugging their every move.  Even the photo agencies have pretty much ignored them.

So I’ve thrown out my integrity, for just a moment to talk about the Heidi Montag Playboy magazine issue that is coming out in September.  She and Spencer Pratt walked the red carpet for LA premier of G.I. Joe this past week.  Not missing a beat in their schilling ways, Spencer and Heidi displayed Montag’s Playboy issue front and center in every one of their photos.

I actually feel kind of bad for Playboy.  I’m sure they thought they had a major coup when they booked media whore Heidi Montag for a spread.  At the time of the booking, Heidi and Spencer were everywhere and showing up on television, magazines, and blogs daily.  Since the shoot took place, most media outlets put a Pratt Montag blackout in effect.  And since there is no nude Heidi Montag being displayed in the issue, no one is going to see anything different from her than they can find on any internet blog, including this one.  So I guess Playboy won’t have any help getting their 3rd quarter numbers up and Heidi Montag won’t get much play from this either.

If you are a fan of Vanessa Hudgens specifically Vanessa Hudgens nude, then you will be very happy with the fact that Ms. Hudgens did not seem to learn her lesson the first time we saw naked pictures of her.

This time the claim is that the pictures of Vanessa Hudgens naked were leaked from her Blackberry.  Uh huh…whatever let’s you sleep at night girlie.

At this point it is only a matter of time before that Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron celebrity sex tape gets out.

Paula Abdul announced via the official PR machine of Hollywood, Twitter, that she will not be returning to American Idol this fall.

“With sadness in my heart, I’ve decided not to return to IDOL. I’ll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day1 become an international phenomenon.

“What I want to say most, is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me. It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.

“I do without any doubt have the BEST fans in the entire world and I love you all.”

Apparently Abdul was a little pissed about all the money being thrown and Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell and thought she deserved to be getting $20 million for the season.  Execs  reportedly offered her a piddly 30% raise.

I’m all for people negotiating contracts and going after what they want and think they deserve, but at some point you need to take a step back and do a reality check.  In the case of Paula Abdul, the reality check would be….where were before American Idol started and do you have that many people pounding on your door offering you work that is completely unrelated to American Idol?  Those who don’t learn from history are doomed to repeat it.  I’ve got two words for Paula: David Caruso.

By now everyone is aware that Rachelle Lefevre has been replaced by Bryce Dallas Howard in the third installment of the movie franchise Twilight.  But contrary to the seemingly cut and dry reasoning given over the past two days, all is not settled and quiet in the land of vampires.

Lefevre released this statement which seems to completely undermine the statement made by the studio talking about “scheduling conflicts’ being the reason for the re-casting:

“I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules.

“My commitment to Barney’s Version is only 10 days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those 10 days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.

“I am greatly saddened that I will not get to complete my portrayal of Victoria for the Twilight audience. This is a story, a theatrical journey and a character that I truly love and about which I am very passionate. I will be forever grateful to the fan support and loyalty I’ve received since being cast for this role, and I am hurt deeply by Summit’s surprising decision to move on without me. I wish the cast and crew of Eclipse only the very best.”

Not to be outdone by a “piddly actress,” the studio followed up with:

“We at Summit Entertainment are disappointed by Rachelle Lefevre’s recent comments which attempt to make her career choices the fault of the Studio. Her decision to discuss her version of the scheduling challenges publicly has forced the Studio to set the record straight and correct the facts.

“Ms. Lefevre’s representatives were advised as early as April that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE was expected to start shooting in early August.

“If Ms. Lefevre was, as she describes “passionate,” about being part of THE TWILIGHT SAGA, we feel that she and her representatives would have included us in her decision to work on another film that would conflict with the shooting schedule of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.

“It was not until July 20th that Summit was first informed of Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to BARNEY’S VERSION, a commitment we have since been advised she accepted in early June. Summit had acted in good faith that she would be available to fulfill her obligations both in terms of rehearsals and shooting availability for THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. We feel that her choice to withhold her scheduling conflict information from us can be viewed as a lack of cooperative spirit which affected the entire production.

“Furthermore Ms. Lefevre took a role in the other film that places her in Europe during the required rehearsal time, and at least ten days of THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE’s principal photography. This period is essential for both rehearsal time with the cast, and for filming at key locations that are only available during the initial part of production.

“Contrary to Ms. Lefevre’s statement, it is simply untrue that the Studio dismissed her over a ten day overlap. It is not about a ten day overlap, but instead about the fact that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE is an ensemble production that has to accommodate the schedules of numerous actors while respecting the established creative vision of the filmmaker and most importantly the story.

“The fact remains that Ms. Lefevre’s commitment to the other project – which she chose to withhold from Summit until the last possible moment – makes her unfortunately unavailable to perform the role of Victoria in THE TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE.”

Cliff Notes:

Lefevre wanted to make another movie, the studio didn’t like that it was during the time she was supposed to be working for them shooting Twilight.  Lefevre probably looked at the script and thought she wouldn’t be needed those specific days and signed on to do the other film without getting permission.

Suck it up sister, you screwed up.

Even TV Guide Channel has had enough of Lisa Rinna.  It was just announced this morning that Carrie Ann Inaba (judge from Dancing with the Stars) and Chris Harrison (host of The Bachelorette) are the newest Red Carpet Announcers for the channel.

Chris Harrison is fresh off a controversial season of The Bachelorette, so he’s got a more household friendly name than a washed up Joey Fatone for sure.  And replacing a much over exposed Lisa Rinna everything, with Carrie Ann Inaba is a welcome change as well.  Although I fear what kind of desperate measures Rinna will take to help extend her career now.

TV Guide Channel has done this before, when they replaced Joan and Melissa Rivers with Rinna and Fatone.

Harrah’s employee Andrea McNulty filed a civil lawsuit against Steeler’s quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for sexual assault on Friday.

“This weekend, Andrea McNulty served Ben Roethlisberger with a civil complaint accusing him of sexually assaulting her in July 2008,” Cornwell’s statement said. “Ben has never sexually assaulted anyone, especially Andrea McNulty. The timing of the lawsuit and the absence of a criminal complaint and a criminal investigation are the most compelling evidence of the absence of any criminal conduct.”

Roethlisberger was one of nine defendants listed in her suit.

Back in 2008, during a celebrity golf tournament that Roethlisberger was in, McNulty claims that he asked her to come to his room to fix his TV.  Once she was in his room and determined that she could not fix his TV, she claims she tried to leave and Roethlisberger would not let her and sexually assaulted her in his room.

If the book world is trying to get people to read more books, this probably isn’t going to do it.  Carrie Prejean, the former Miss California, who rode herself right out of her crown just signed a book deal with conservative publisher, Regnery Publishing.  The book will be called “Still Standing.”

The things Carrie Prejean intends to get off her chest (not her implants of course):

Why she answered that “fateful” question by Perez Hilton the way she did (um…cuz that’s what she thinks?)

What really went on behind the scenes at the pageant (hmmm…a bunch of catty girls putting vaseline on their teeth and tape on their butts)

What really happened to make Prejean lose her crown (how about she pissed off the hand that fed her – pageants are a for profit business)

Wow, that’s going to be a really short book.  It looks like it should be something that should just be put on a blog post somewhere.  Oh wait, it has been: here, and here, and here.

The Dr. Phil show, which is just a fancier version of the Jerry Springer Show, is definitely letting the “doctor” and his family live large.  This year’s family getaway is taking place in the South of France.  Dr. Phil family activities have included, tennis, haute couture shopping excursions, and yachting in Beaulier-Sur-Mer.

We’ve heard the expression “crazy is the new black,” but Dr. Phil and family gives a new twist “crazy puts you in the black.”

For the record, I still Oprah for bringing this idiot to the scene.

Joe Simpson is pulling a stunt that seems to be right out of the Joe Jackson playbook.  It seems that Simpson wants to revive daughter Ashlee Simpson’s singing career. (I’m not so sure that would be considered a revival.  Maybe more like trying to do it again.)  His big project idea?  Simpson is pitching a “concept album” that would have Ashlee doing covers of Michael Jackson songs.
