Media outlets are reporting that Ed McMahon, arguably the world’s best sidekick, has passed away at age 86.
The longtime sidekick to Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show passed away, shortly after midnight, at UCLA medical center. There has been no word on the specific cause of McMahon’s death, but he was reportedly suffering numerous ailments as of late.
Ed McMahon had quite the career all on his own too. He was the big check toting face of Publisher’s Clearing House, the emcee of Star Search (the show that paved the way for wanna be’s everywhere including the producers of So You Think You Can Dance, American Idol, America’s Got Talent….), and who could forget the Cash4Gold Commercials.
