Yes, I used the words Michael Vick and PETA in the same sentence…and no, this isn’t a setup for a joke.

Michael Vick is the former NFL football player who is serving time in a federal prison for the committing the crimes of funding dog fighting, gambling on dog fighting, and running a dog fighting operation on his property. Well, he gets out later this month and then goes to a halfway house for a couple of months.  Since he’s filed for bankruptcy, this whole PETA thing reeks of bullshit.  Vick’s bankruptcy plan has this whopping contingency that he gets back into the NFL.

So now he’s approached PETA to become their newest spokesperson and PETA is actually entertaining the idea.

“I’m familiar with [the plan],” said Dan Shannon, director of youth outreach and campaigns for PETA. “We have been in discussions with Michael Vick, with his management team, about the possibility of him putting out a public-service announcement with PETA when he’s out of jail. We want him to discourage people from taking part in dog-fighting. I can do it until I’m blue in the face and it might not convince anybody. Michael Vick sure can. He can say, ‘Look, I did it, I was wrong, and it ruined my career.’”

Of course, PETA has also recently not condemned their most outspoken member, Pamela Anderson, for promoting a strip club that’s just as well known as one of the top steak houses in New York City.

So I ask you…who is the bigger media whore: Michael Vick or PETA?
