I have to admit, I am not a big follower of MMA, and I am not a fan of the Tapout clothing line, but I thought this story was pretty interesting. The founder of Tapout, Mask who’s real name is, Charles Lewis Jr. died in a car crash early this morning in Orange County. According to reports, which have been confirmed by Newport Beach Police , Charles died when his Ferrari Modena (roughly a $300,000 car) slammed into a utility pole and was ripped in half. A woman who was with Lewis, in the car, was thrown from the Ferrari and is currently in the hospital. Lewis died at the scene.
Reports are that Lewis was possibly racing a late model white Porsche when he lost control. The Porsche driver, David Kirby was caught (not too far from the accident, and was arrested for “gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated” and his passenger Lynn Marie Nabozny was arrested for public intoxication. Kirby is being held on $1 million bail. (How ironic would it be if he was wearing an Afflicted shirt?)
I was just down in Orange County earlier today. People bitch about LA drivers. I was doing 83 on the 405 and I was getting my doors blown off. And these were people who were of a responsible adult age driving things like Jag’s, Lexus’ and Mercedes sedans.
