Remember that whole cookbook thing that was going on between Jerry Seinfeld’s wife Jessica and the other author Missy Chase Lapine? Lapine wrote a cookbook on how to cram icky vegetables into your kids favorite foods and then Jessica wrote a similar book, but due to Jessica’s connections, she was able to promote the hell out of her book on shows like Oprah. Well, Lapine started talking plagiarism, and a lawsuit followed, then Jerry went on Letterman and made some stupid comments…enter the additional claim of defamation.
Apparently Jerry’s comments: “Many of the three-named people do become assassins” and called Lapine a “wacko” and “mentally unhinged celebrity stalker.” started to affect Lapine’s seven year old daughter. In court papers filed yesterday, she says her daughter came home from school and asked her what an assassin is.
She should find some solace in the fact that Jerry is married and not out prowling for minor girlfriends anymore. Although, now that I think about it, in 10 years, she’ll be 17 (about the same age as Jerry’s former flame Shoshona Lonstein) and Jessica will be 47 and getting a little long in the tooth. Maybe Lapine should drop the suit and go into witness protection so that Jerry can’t find and date her daughter.
