Russell Simmons, in his benevolence, wants everyone to be able to “Live the Dream.” How does he intend to spread the dream for everyone? He’s created a new pre-paid Visa card for people to use. And to make sure your stylin’ when you use it, you can choose from the Black Rush Card or the Pink Baby Phat Rush Card. Because you surely have to be in style when you’re living the dream. Don’t think it’s going to be cheap for you to live the dream though…and that Simmons isn’t financially benefiting from offering this service. Not that he’s expected to be doing this for free…I’m just pointing out the marketing strategy vs. reality. The fee schedule for this thing is pretty steep. A couple of examples: $19.95 to initially load the card, $1.00/transaction (maximum charge of $10.00/month), and a charge of $1.95 for each ATM transaction (which does not include any charges the ATM Institution may charge.) The fee schedule is clearly spelled out on the site, but it ain’t cheap to “Live the Dream.” I guess he needs some help with those $40,000/month child support payments.
