Warner Brothers is bringing back my favorite show, as a kid, The Banana Splits. I watched them in re-runs, but nothing is better than those kids shows that had characters seemingly created during some drug induced creative session (Snorks polka-dotted ears, H.R. Pufnstuf, a talking flute named Freddie – I rest my case). Of course, they’ve modified the songs a bit and are shooting new segments…because todays kids couldn’t possibly relate to those goofy 60’s/70’s haircuts and fine polyester wardrobes of the kids, but hey…the characters look astonishingly close to the originals.

Reruns, right. Still giving away your age. You my friend may want to invest some of those $2 bills you stashed when they came out and no one spent them. Spend one a month on a channel called Boomerang… Stayed at a hotel that had it – mesmerized our kids, moments of peace for mom and dad. Flintstones, Jetsons, Yogi Bear, the original Banana Splits, Johnny Quest, Wacky Races… haven’t seen H.R. yet, but Danger Island is there – bad acting, goofy haircuts and an vaguely unsettling amount of male shirtlessness for a kids show…

Ahhhh, yep you got me there on the age thing. And yeah, I agree with you on the Danger Island observation (but thinking about it…there’s a LOT of that kind of behavior in those old shows hmmmm…me thinks I need a drink)
