Only in the warped world of Joe Francis would this be deemed worthy of sending out a press release on the newswire. “Joe Francis Files Lawsuit in L.A. Superior Court Against Ex-Accountant Who Turned Him In To The IRS.”
Joe, and his legal team, are a bit upset by the fact that his tax problems came as a result of his ex accountant (Michael Barrett) who turned him into the Feds, to collect on the IRS “whistleblower” program. Apparently his accountant, Barrett, made a bunch of mistakes on the corporate tax statements and then ratted Joe out to the IRS, that there were mistakes on the taxes. Under the whistleblower program, Barrett can then be rewarded a percentage of whatever the government is able to collect….even if the informant was the preparer of the incorrect tax statements. Admittedly, that program is a bit f’d up. But, sleazy business practices begets sleazy business practices. A fine example of karma – this couldn’t have happened to a more deserving individual.
