It’s been a busy day for the The Barenaked Ladies…and more specifically their PR people. As you can see, we’ve got the mugshot of Steven Page and his (alleged) snorting buddy Stephanie Ford. The whole sordid story revolves around a split up marriage, a girlfriend, an evening out, a fight with the girlfriend, drunkenness, car shuffling, a bottle marked “calcium,” and some little white pills. Definitely the stuff of soap operas.
When questioned by police, Mr. Page admitted he had been snorting drugs, saying, “Yeah, it’s cocaine,” the court documents show. Police found 0.314 ounces of cocaine in capsules inside the “calcium” bottle, as well as on the table and in one of Mr. Page’s pockets.
Steven has plead not guilty to the charges and is scheduled to appear in court on August 26th.
Barenaked Ladies released a children’s album in May and have been scheduled to perform at Disney’s Music Block Party. (Disney…the home of sex, drugs, and rock & roll) But, as of this evening, they have decided to pull out of the Block Party - “…we don’t want to put Disney in an awkward position before issues involving Steven’s arrest are resolved.”
