In Gloucester, Massachusetts, the female sophomores aren’t worried about passing their standardized tests to get into 11th grade, they’re hoping that their pregnancy tests are positive. The high school, which normally has 4 pregnant students each year, now has 17 girls (all under the age of 16) pregnant.
The ever observant school employees didn’t take notice that the school nurse had performed 150 pregnancy tests this year (oh, and there’s only 1,200 students in the entire school – do the math). Once they started seeing all the swollen bellies, they started asking questions. Turns out, the girls all made a pact to get pregnant and have baby showers together and raise their babies together. Doesn’t that sound like lots of fun?
While administrators are all pissing and moaning over whether or not they should make birth control readily available to the students, they should really be working on ways to make it not “so much fun” to have a baby when you’re not even old enough to drive.
