Thanks Richard for sending this to me. Today’s WTF item is an Interactive Personal Trainer from Hammacher Schlemmer. It’s price tag of just under $16,000 does not include someone to do the exercises for you. It does have weights for you upper and lower body along with a television monitor that hooks up to the internet to give you exercises to do and then you can record your workout. It’s basically a really big, and pricey coat rack that you’ll never get Goodwill to take, nor will you be able to sell it at a garage sale when you no longer use it.
The less expensive alternative to this is to join a gym. 24 Hour Fitness runs around $200-$250 for an annual membership and 50 minute personal training session are right around $60 each. So, you can spend a whole lot less, get yelled at (for motivation of course), and not have some big huge bulky contraption taking up all kinds of space and making you feel guilty every time you see it. In fact, if you just join the gym and don’t sign up for any personal training…you won’t even feel guilty about not exercising.
