NBC just ordered up episodes of “Who Do You Think You Are.” It’s a show on the BBC that reveals a celebrity’s genealogy. Cuz knowing that the celebrity is crazy isn’t enough for audiences…now we get to see that the celebrity comes from a whole line of crazies.
In the U.K. version, the stories have included findings of bigamy, wartime heroism and, in one case, attempted murder. “Celebrity participants often are brought to tears as they learn about their relatives’ hardships.” I’m guessing that the US version will be greatly sanitized, to only include celebs with a family history of greatness. Maybe they’ll throw in a murder if it happened hundreds of years ago. We definitely don’t want our celebrities knocked off their pedestals.
The production company behind this is Is or Isn’t Entertainment. What? You don’t recognize the name? That’s Lisa Kudrow’s company that produced that HBO hit “The Comeback,” starring Lisa Kudrow.
