Agence France-Presse has reported that Japanese bikini model Serena Kozakura, 38, was able to have her conviction overturned. So you ask yourself two questions….Why do I care? and How did she manage that? Well, unlike here in the US, where, if you’re a celebrity you can pretty much get your charges dismissed or certainly reduced just based on the fact that you’re a celebrity…you actually have to have some substance to your case when you’re fighting charges. Serena was charged with property destruction and her defense attorney used her breasts as evidence that she could not have committed the crime.
Serena was convicted of the crime last year after a man said she, in a jealous rage, had kicked in the door of his room and entered through the opening because Serena thought he was with another woman. Serena claimed that the man had done the damage himself.
In her appeal, Kozakura’s lawyer held up a plate showing the dimension of the hole Serena allegedly had crawled through. The lawyer then showed how Serena’s ample 44-inch bustline could never pass through an opening of that size.
AFP reported that Tokyo High Court presiding judge Kunio Harada agreed with Kozakura’s defense and overturned the guilty verdict on Monday, adding there was reasonable doubt over the man’s account of what happened to his door.
